The Deparment of Plant, Soil and Environmental Sciences is a state-of-the-art R&D unit. Its equipment includes:
- Elemental Analyser (CHNS) for the identification of carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen and sulfur on organic and inorganic matrixes;
- Thermo Electron Iris Intrepid II plasma spectrometre (ICP) for macro and microelements;
- High Performance Liquid Cromatography (HPLC) for the separation, identification and quantification of organic molecules;
- In vitro airrtight cultivation;
- Multispectral Radiometer (Crop Scanner) for the evaluation of biomass, Leaf Area Index, etc.
- Infra Red Gas Analyser (CIRAS II) and Scholander pressure chamber for hydric stree;
- Microwave Accelerated Reaction System.
It has taken part in the following EU projects:
- SNOWMAN-ERANET, 2008 (cod. 01/20). SUMATECS – SUstainable Management of Trace Element Contaminated Soils-Development of a decision tool system and its evaluation for practical application.
